America's Story from America's Library Discover the inventors, politicians, performers, activists and other everyday people who made this country what it is today.

Get Caught Reading The Get Caught Reading campaign is designed to encourage people of all ages to read more, and to remind parents to share thier love of reading with children. The site shows off celebritires associated with the effort -- Rosie O'Donnell, Whoopi Goldberg, Dolly Parton, Robin Williams, Jake Lloyd and the Rugrats. Plus, there are reading tips from teachers and librarians.

Iowa Commission on Volunteerism The ICVS is comprised of talented, dedicated staff and commissioners who understand the critical role they play in developing and promoting a statewide vision for national and community service.
Iowa Literacy Council The specific goals and objectives of the Iowa Literacy Council are to increase awareness of the Iowa Adult Literacy Congress, broaden the perception of the meaning of literacy, to promote an understanding of learning disabilities in adults, and to develop an ongoing public relations plan.
ISU Extension Family Storytelling There could be as many as five generations in your family or community. Each one has a story to tell. Shared stories increase understanding between age groups and allow us to learn from each others' experiences. Stories can help us glimpse the past, interpret the present and prepare for the future.
Library of Congress The Center for the Book in the Library of Congress, created by an Act of Congress (Public Law 95-129) in 1977, was established to stimulate public interest in books, reading, and libraries and to encourage the study of books and print culture.
