One of the missions of The Vilsack
Foundation is to use the fine arts to tell the stories
of Iowa women who have influenced history. The Belle Babb
Mansfield statue project is one of the projects the foundation
is funding. The project has raised about $60,000 toward
a goal of $90,000. The statue will be located along one
of Mt. Pleasant’s main streets on the campus of Iowa
Wesleyan College, where Belle taught. The college has chosen
South Dakota sculptor, Ben Victor, as the artist for the
project. He has recently completed a maquette of the statue,
a two and a half foot clay representation of the final
work of art. If you would like to contribute
